Test Flight: A Dart Flight School Codelab

Gone were the days when Jelly Bean and KitKat were once thought of as sweets instead of Android operating systems. Not only those. Did you know that Dart, traditionally known as a kind of target game, could also refer to a web development framework by Google? In first-ever codelab held on February 15, 2015 at Berkeley School Baguio, GDG Baguio introduced Dart into the local developer community.

The participants, a mix of professionals, college and high school students, became Dart Pilots and were introduced to Dart, a new web programming language with libraries, a virtual machine called Dart Virtual Machine, and tools. Dart helps developers build structured modern web apps and compiles to JavaScript to run across the entire modern web. (

Sunny Natividad discussing Google Technologies
The event commenced with an introduction about Google Developer Group (GDG) Baguio by +Sunny Natividad, our resident organizer and speaker. Dart and codelabs were then introduced to the participants through videos and slides by +Reymart Canuel, GDG Baguio's Community Manager.

After all was said and done, the codelabs began. Darrrt!

What better way is there to refuel our pilots' energy? Pizza!

Special thanks to Berkeley School Baguio and +Aris Go for providing us our venue. Thanks too to the organizers and supporters!

Looking Forward

2013 wouldn't be as exciting and as successful without your awesome participation and with the support of our partners and Google communities!

In 2014, we shall go beyond just the numbers. This year, we envision to have more community participation and involvement by organizing fun and engaging events. We also seek to involve more Baguio IT professionals, developers and educators alike, in our events.

We are seeing more collaboration most especially with the different Google communities in Baguio -- Google Business Group and Google Educators Group.

GDG Baguio Community will still serve as a venue for new fun, learning, collaboration, and participation on Google Technologies in 2014. Please stay synced on our Google+ Page for more events and updates this 2014!

Stay awesome like Google!

See you!
